Rosy Mound PTA provides financial support to Rosy Elementary School through funding of assemblies, field trips, classroom supplies, scholarships, enrichment, and social events. The following is a comprehensive list of the events that take place throughout the year and the chairperson who will be your point of contact for questions. Rarely is any event/activity a ‘one-man show’. Your volunteerism is so important and we thank those that help every year!

  • Popcorn Fridays
    This popular snack is usually given to students on the third Friday of the month during afternoon recess throughout the school year.
  • Rosy Gives Back
    This program runs in conjunction with our Popcorn Days. Local charitable organizations are chosen and students are encouraged to donate 50 cents. When a student donates an item, they can receive a free bag of popcorn.
  • Babysitting during PTA Member Meetings
    Coordinator: Shaya Skiles
    In order for PTA to provide childcare during our monthly PTA Meetings, we need help from parents or young adults. Babysitters must be at least 14 years old and be able to work with young children in a positive manner. Babysitters are paid $10 each for their time during our meetings.
  • Green Team
    The Green Team is a group of 4th grade students who help in the lunch room on a rotational basis. Their main focus is to recycle what we can from our lunches. We will need a chairperson to stop in to help out the 4th grade teams during lunch.
  • Teacher Conference Meals – November 4-5, 2015/ March 23-24, 2016
    This is an opportunity to give back to the teachers by providing snacks and meals for the teachers during the busy conference weeks in October and February. Food, drinks, tableware, and decorations (if used) are donated by parent volunteers and the PTA.


  • Ice Cream Social
    Coordinator: Rosy PTA Board
    The ice cream social is a kick-off to the year. Typically it is held directly before school starts in late August or early September. Ice cream is provided by the PTA board and the kids have an opportunity to reconnect after a fun summer!
  • Outdoor Movie Night
    Coordinator: Rosy PTA Board
    Come enjoy some family time under the stars and watch a movie under our 18′ movie screen! Last year we had over 400 people – grab your spot early! Bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc.

  • Rosy Mound Jog-A-Thon – October 2, 2015
    Coordinator: Kerri Layman
    The Rosy Mound Jog-A-Thon is the only major fundraiser for the 2015-2016 school year. This event takes many volunteers and funds the entire PTA General Budget as well as other special projects, equipment, and supplies for all students at Rosy Mound. (Rain date is scheduled for Oct. 5, 2015.)
  • Audit
    Coordinator: Shaun Hintz
    Each year, a copy of the prior year’s audit must be submitted to the Michigan PTSA office upon completion and before Feb. 28th.


  • Pancake Breakfast – Saturday December 5th
    ‘Tis the Season to celebrate the season with staff, friends, and other Rosy Mound families! This event takes many volunteers and includes pancake breakfast, kid crafts, and pictures with Santa!
  • Craft Show – Saturday December 5th
    Coordinator: Abbei Monroe
    This craft show runs during the Holiday breakfast. Why not get some shopping done while eating pancakes and visiting Santa? Volunteers need to help get artisans, advertise, or set up and take down tables on the day of the event.
  • Scholastic Book Fair – Dec. 5, 2015/March 23-24, 2016
    Coordinator: Chelsie Weigle
    An opportunity for students to purchase gifts and books just before Christmas. For every dollar spent on books, our school receives fifty cents for book purchases for our school library and our classrooms.   For more information visit


  • Pink Out – Friday February 12, 2016
    Our “Pink Out” event is to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for cancer, while having fun! Students who wear PINK will get one stripe of pink hair coloring. Students can get an additional stripe for $1 a piece for up to a $5 donation. Our goal is to have the whole school participate causing a PINK OUT!


  • Rosy PTA Nominations
    It is the task of the nominating committee to recognize and recruit candidates for the elected leadership of our PTA. Nominations begin in January and nominees are typically elected into position in March.
  • Variety Show – TBD
    One of the highlights of the Rosy Mound year, is the Rosy Variety Show which takes place at either White Pines or Lakeshore MS in March. Often having over 150 students involved in over 40 acts, this is a major hit packed with talent! Many volunteers are needed weeks before the show, at dress rehearsal, and the night of the event.


  • Bike Rodeo
    This ‘all dad’ run event, offers Rosy Mound students an opportunity to learn bike safety while decorating their bikes and learning from safety officers and local bike shops!


  • Staff Appreciation Week – TBD
    Rosy Mound is a great place to be! To show our staff our appreciation, we annually ask Rosy students to write letters of appreciation to our wonderful staff here at Rosy Mound. This is often accompanied by other treats and special gifts to our staff.


  • 4th Grade Celebration – June 3, 2016
    This event recognizes our 4th Grade class as they graduate from Rosy Mound. 3rd Grade parents usually run this event to see how it works in preparation for the following year!
