Rosy Mound Variety Show ~ March 15th 2012


Date to Remember:
  • Online Sign is closed
  • Rehearsal - February 23rd
  • Dress Rehearsal - march 13th
  • The Big Show! - march 15th: 6:30pm


Act Requirement

  • Variety Show Act sign-up will only be accepted if completed online.  Know that the student information (ie. Participant name spelling and grade) provided in this online form will be used for creation of the program.  So please correctly spell all student names.
  • Each student may only be in two performance numbers. If the students is in a classroom number (Y5, K, 1st) that will perform on show night, this is NOT counted as one of the two allowed performance numbers. 
  • Each student number must be between 2:00 and 2:30 minutes long.   If you will need assistance with cutting your music, please check the appropriate box on the “Online Sign-Up Form” and someone will call you to discuss. 
  • The Variety Show will have a “World of Disney” theme this year.  Although we encourage students to incorporate the theme in their performance, it is not required. 
  • All music CDs will be collected at the Rosy Mound Rehearsal on Thursday, February 23 at 4:00pm.  Please keep in mind that we will have your music until after the show so create an extra copy of the music to practice with if needed.   CD’s will be returned the week after the show. 
  • Student performances are NOT allowed to have any inappropriate lyrics, themes, or gestures.  
  • During the show performing students will be required to be in the Green Room back stage.  The Green Room will be parent supervised and is located behind the stage.  
  • We will make the best effort to have students performing only in one of the two Acts so that they will only need to spend 1/2 of the show in the Green Room.  During Intermission, we will allow students to switch locations (i.e Act 1 students will move to audience, Act 2 students will move into Green Room). 
  • All students wishing to perform in the Variety Show must attend the Rosy Rehearsal on Thursday, February 23rd at 4pm at Rosy Mound.  Students performances do NOT need to be complete, but they must be able to show a good representation of the number.  The only exception to this will be the class room performances (Y5, K and 1st grade classes) which will not need to attend the Rosy Mound Rehearsal.  4th and 5th Grade Announcers do NOT need to attend this rehearsal. 
  • We would like to encourage students to be individual in their performances.  Therefore, no two like performances will be allowed (two of the same songs performed).   The first online registered student performance will be given priority. 
  • All students wishing to perform in this year’s Variety Show will be accepted as long as the above Rules and Regulations are followed.

4th and 5th GRADE ANNOUNCERS

  • If you would like to be a 4th and 5th Grade announcer, you still need to fill out the online application.  Just check the box marked 4th and 5th Grade Announcer.
  • If you are in another performance number you can NOT be an announcer as well.  Only 4th and 5th graders not in any other performance will be allowed to be announcers. 
  • The 4th and 5th grade announcers will be required to be at the entire Dress Rehearsal, so please plan accordingly. 
  • We will be having a "World of Disney" theme and 4th and 5th grade announcers will be required to provide their own theme based costumes for the Variety Show. 


Rehearsal: Thursday, February 23rd at 4:00, Rosy Mound Elementary
  • Everyone participating in the show MUST ATTEND Rehearsal
  • Everyone must bring the rehearsal music form if music is required for your act
  • All acts must check-in in the front lobby
  • All acts must bring all necessary props and music 


Dress Rehearsal: March 13th at 5:30, Lakeshore Middle School
  • Everyone participating in the show MUST ATTEND Dress Rehearsal
  • Dress Rehearsal will be broken into two Acts
    • All ACT 1 students are required to be at the middle school by 5:30
    • All ACT 2 students need to be at the middle school by 6:30
  • There will be a check in station at the base of the stage. All students must check in and review the program for act name and spelling
  • All acts are encouraged to make back-drops and props to support their act
  • All props will be stored at the Middle School until show night
  • All music CDs will be kept at the Middle School through the show. Please keep in mind that we will have your music until after the show so make an extra copy to practice more if needed
  • DVD's will be available for purchase at the Dress Rehearsal for $15 per copy


Show Night: Thursday March 15th at 6:30pm, Lakeshore Middle School

  • Doors will oopen at 6:00pm for seating
  • DVD's will be available for purchase in the Lobby on Show Night for $15.00 each
  • Act 1 participants and announcers must arrive at 6:00 and go to the Green Room for directions
  • During Act 1, Act 2 participants should be in the audience sitting with family. During intermission, Act 2 students will be asked to move to the Green Room.
  • All props must be collected from stage after the Variety Show performance is completed
  • The Y5, K, and 1st Grade classes will be required to arrive to the back hallway at 6:15pm on Show Night and find their teacher. They will be allowed to exit stage and go back into the audience immediately after their performance to sit with family
